Spring bear hunts take place during the month of May and are 5 full days. We have a very good population of bears on our hunting lease that have not been hunted since 2012. Along with our common black bears, we have a mix of brown and blonde colour phase bears. We do not put a lot of pressure on our bears, so you will see several bears every night.
WEIGHED IN AT: 412.4 lbs
Our black bear hunting camp is located in the Saskatchewan wilderness. We have 27 bear tags. Our main goal is to provide to our clients the best black bear hunting available. Our hunting area has excellent natural characteristics with a very good mix of forest area, lakes, rivers and open meadow. With some farmland access as well. Our main offering is spring bear hunts. With sufficient notice we can also arrange fall trophy bear hunts.
For comfort we use tree stands. Our hunters will be transported to the location of the stands using Canadian guides. All guides and hunters will have communication via cell phone or Garmin inreach when needed for safety. We will also prepare your trophy for the trip home, cape and freeze.
Chaparral Hunting Adventures offers Spring Saskatchewan black bear hunts with a rifle, muzzle, crossbow or bow. Our untouched and remote wilderness black bear hunts are done in over 130,000 acres of some of the most remote bear country territory available in North America. Every year bears over 20" Boone & Crocket and over 400 lbs. are harvested due to the vast wilderness in this area and low to no pressure! The black bear hunting in the Saskatchewan Boreal Forest region has been considered as one of the top destinations in the world for size, numbers and color phase black bears.
It’s all about genetics and environment, plus thousands of years of evolution. The Saskatchewan environment is a harsh environment, late springs, early falls, long winters. Any big game that calls the forest region of Saskatchewan home has spent thousands of years adapting and evolving to improve their chance of survival. That often means instincts are developed to help black bears find ample food sources and bodies evolving to carry extra body mass into the long winter hibernation period. Great Saskatchewan black bear genetics also play a role in the high proportion of color phase black bears. Estimates range from 15% to 25% of all black bears in the area are brown, blonde or cinnamon color phase bears.
Bear numbers are extremely high in this part of Saskatchewan, Canada, partially due to the 2020 and 2021 spring bear seasons being closed to American hunters. Many hunters see and witness high numbers of bears at the bait sites.
Our bear hunters are welcome to take advantage of world class walleye and northern pike fishing. We can fish in the morning before the afternoon hunt or when the black bear hunting is complete. We offer self-guided fishing or guided fishing. If you would like the guided option, daily or hourly rates are available.
